Arrival and Departure: Check in is available from 4.00pm to 8.00pm (16:00 to 20:00) on the day of arrival. Check-in times outside of those specified must be confirmed with us prior to arrival.

Check-out : We ask that you please vacate your room by 10.30am (10:30) on the morning of departure. If you have requested a late check out, this will be charged at £20 per bedroom. Late check-out can be arranged from 11.00am up to 2.30pm, however this is dependent on the incoming guests and MUST be agreed with Margaret’s Cottage before your last evening’s stay with us.

Reservations: Please note the cancellation policy before committing to a reservation.

In order for us to confirm a reservation, a £25 deposit , per room, is required to secure your booking. This can be done via cash, cheque or a card payment on the phone. No other payment is taken from your card unless you ask us to, or the booking is cancelled within 5 days of the scheduled date of arrival, or you do not show, or you use the card to pay on departure.

The exception to this policy is for bookings at peak times and / or special events where we may reserve the right to take a deposit payment equivalent to the room(s) single night rate. You will be informed of this at the time of booking if this is applicable.

If you are unable to secure the booking with a credit/debit card then we require a cheque/postal order/bankers draft for £25 per room.

Cancellation by the Guest: Margaret’s Cottage is a small business, so cancellations can have a big impact on us, especially if we have turned away potential guests in favour of someone who has already booked and who then cancels. We do, however, appreciate that unforeseen circumstances can intervene, and we try to be as sympathetic and helpful as possible in such cases.

In the event of a cancellation up to 5 days prior to the scheduled date of arrival no charge will be made. If you cancel your reservation within 5 days of the scheduled date of arrival a cancellation charge equivalent to the room(s) single night rate may be made. Guests failing to arrive, without notification, may be responsible to a charge equivalent to the total booking price for the first night of their booked stay.

We advise that you take out a suitable insurance product to cover against unexpected costs such as cancellation fees. In extreme circumstances, we may take legal action, through the Courts, to recover any outstanding debts.

Cancellation by Us: Should it become necessary for us to cancel a booking we will contact you immediately. Any payments made will be refunded in full.

Damage and Breakages: Please take care of our home. You are responsible and liable for any breakages, spillages or damages which you cause to the accommodation or its contents. Please report these as soon as they occur especially if you accidentally spill something – it’s much easier to clean if we know what it is and act quickly. We do not normally charge for breakages and damage, but we reserve the right to charge for repair or making good if the damage is significant.

Complimentary afternoon tea: If you stay with us for two nights or more, afternoon tea will be provided in the drawing room from approx 2pm to 5pm. This will be available to you on your first full day staying at Margaret’s Cottage and from then onwards. Tea is set up so that you can help yourself to a selection of homemade treats. If you would like to avail of your complimentary afternoon tea upon your arrival/check-in at Margaret’s Cottage, please contact Ciara who will make the necessary arrangements.

Data: Some of the data gathered during the course of a booking may be held manually in a filing cabinet or on computer. We would like to hold this data after your visit to be able to inform you of future offers. If you would prefer us not to hold this information please let us know.

Keys: You have access to the building and your room 24 hours a day throughout your stay using a set of keys given to you when you register on arrival. You have full responsibility of these keys for the duration of your stay. Lost keys will be charged at £60.00 per set, so as to cover the cost of having the front door lock changed, all replacement keys cut, and fob purchased and engraved.

Liability: We do not accept any liability for any damage, loss or injury to any member of your party or any vehicles or possessions, unless proven to be caused by a negligent act by ourselves or our employees whilst acting in the course of their employment.

Lost Property: We are happy to return items that have been left following departure. However, there will be a minimum charge of £8.00 to cover postage and packaging.

Missing Items: We reserve the right to charge for missing items.

Guest Drawing Room:This is available for residents to use from 0700 to 2200 hours. At 22.00hours the drawing room is locked. This is because children are asleep very close to the drawing room. Thank you for your understanding with this matter.

Payment: Payment is due on the morning of departure and we accept major credit and debit cards; as well as personal and business cheques and cash. We apply a surcharge of 1% to all card transactions.

Pets: Pets are not permitted in the house or on the adjoining land. Well behaved assistance dogs are welcome. Margaret’s Cottage has a resident cat.

Baby sitting & Childminding: Margaret’s Cottage does not offer a baby sitting or childminding service. Guests are not permitted to leave their children unattended within the building at any time.

Prices: We reserve the right to change our prices at any time. This does not affect bookings already made.

Laundry: Margaret’s Cottage does not offer a laundry service. However, we do recognise that situations crop up when guests might need an item cleaned via a domestic washing machine. In these occasions we will do our best to assist, by washing and drying items at a cost of £2 per item of laundry. We also have an iron and ironing board that guests can use, free of charge.

Smoking & Vaping: Smoking and the use of E cigarettes are NOT permitted within any part of Margaret’s Cottage.

Breakfast: Our full breakfast menu is served in the guest drawing room from 7.00am until 9.00am in the summer time From 9.00am to 10.00am a continental [non cooked] breakfast is available, comprising of coffee/tea, chilled juice, Irish breads and preserves, fruit, yogurts and cereals. At 10am breakfast will be cleared from the drawing room. At some times we may change the times of our breakfast to reflect the changing seasons. In this case, all guests will be given this information in writing, upon their welcome folder.

Dressing for breakfast: If your party has booked all the rooms within Margaret’s Cottage it is generally permissible that you may come up for breakfast in appropriate relaxed attire. However if there are guests in the house, who are unknown to you, we request that all guests dress appropriately for breakfast , remembering that the drawing room is a public room.

Newspapers and Magazines: Margaret’s Cottage provides one copy of The Times and The Irish Times each day, which is left in the guest drawing room. If you request your personal copy of these, or another paper/magazine we will be happy to get it for you if we can, and this will be added to your bill.

Termination Policy: Margaret’s Cottage reserves the right, at its discretion, to terminate, without notice, an individuals stay where deemed necessary through unacceptable behavior or as a result of actions which are likely to endanger or offend others (Please note that non compliance of our non smoking policy may constitute termination). In such circumstances any outstanding account must be settled, no refunds will be made.

VAT: All published rates are inclusive of VAT at the current rate.

Fair Use of Wi Fi and Internet: We would like to ensure that all of our guests have an enjoyable internet experience whilst staying with us. We have therefore implemented a ‘fair use’ policy to ensure that we can continue to provide a fast and reliable service.

We may monitor the performance of our network and the use of it by our guests. If we notice that a guest is using it in excess of what is expected from reasonable normal use and where such excessive use is affecting other guests, particularly during busy times, we may restrict usage. If you do not use file sharing software or download large files from the internet then you should not be affected by our fair use policy. However, if it becomes clear that heavy downloading, peer-to-peer networking, or excessive streaming (i.e. more than simply streaming programme content from websites such as BBC iPlayer, 4 On Demand, or itv.com) is taking place then we may contact you to ask you to reduce your use to allow our other customers to share the system fairly. If you continue to do so, or if you persistently exceed normal use to the extent that it affects our network and other user’s enjoyment of the service, then we reserve the right to restrict or deny you access to the network by switching off the internet to the house.

Data Protection: You may be required to provide us with certain personal information. We will use such personal information in accordance with relevant data protection legislation in accordance with Tourism NI guidelines.
